i've been busy, canucks haven't been...much...

i pretty much just had a week off. come home from uvic for 6 days, went back to write 2 more exams, then caught a red-eye bus home that night.
anyways...
wednesday 17th:
canucks beat oilers. can't remember much of the game, but it was linden night (great ceremony for retiring the jersey), 1st period was dead, then nucks score 4 times in 2nd. we win 5-3, with two goals and an assist for demitra.
thursday 18th:
mats sundin, the toronto superstar, announces that he is signing with the canucks. now that he has finally made a decision, let's see if he actually plays for the 5 million.
saturday 20th:
canucks lose 3-1 to chicago. i didn't watch the game, but i heard that canucks opened the scoring, and that they had a lot of chances that just barely missed. for this game, i was on a greyhound from victoria to campbell river, getting home late that night instead of being stuck in victoria the next day. bus got in at 2:00 in the morning, 2 hours late.

so, as i type, canucks are playing the ducks. losing 1-0 in the 1st period so far. should be a fun game.
i predict i won't be typing as much over christmas, so i will just list the next couple games now:
tuesday december 23rd in san jose @ 7:00 pm
friday december 26th vs edmonton @ 7:00 pm (my friend is going to this game!)
sunday december 28th vs ottawa @ 7:00 pm
tuesday december 30th vs philadelphia @ 7:00 pm

what am i missing? oh yes, current NW standings:
1st - calgary (yes, they passed us) - 3rd in conference
2nd - vancouver - 5th in conference (currently tied with anaheim, tie will break with one game tonight)
3rd - minnesota - 9th in conference (they're falling now)

since i probably won't post again for the next few days, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

a disappointment, followed by redemption

saturday - 3-0 loss to oilers
pathetic playing. need i say more?
allows calgary to tie with nucks for lead in division.

sunday- 5-3 win over florida panthers
goals- 2 for demitra, one for wellwood, kesler, and hordichuck
assists- bieksa, edler, kesler, raymond, d sedin, h sedin
beautiful game! they were definitely playing this time.
back in lead for division.

next game: wednesday december 20th vs. oilers (again) @ 7:00pm
expect schneider in net (sanford allowed shutout against oilers, and schneider played well tonight), but with sanford ready to take over if need be.
trevor linden's #16 jersey goes to raftors before game. long-awaited ceremony.

Vancouver beats Nashville 3-1

another win.
Sanford was back in net, making 20 saves on 21 shots. edler, demitra and burrows each scored, with assists for wellwood, daniel sedin, bieksa, and kesler.
lots of fighting. lots of powerplay time for nucks, including a 7-minute powerplay.
vancouver is back at the top of the division.
1st - vancouver - 3rd in conference
2nd - calgary - 4th or 5th in conference (not sure yet, tie with anaheim, yahoo! is slow)
3rd - minnesota - 7th in conference

next game:
saturday december 13th @ edmonton, 7:00pm
should be easy.
it's now being said that luie could quite possibly be back for either this game or sunday's game against florida...

5-4 shootout loss to Colorado

okay, after i posted the last post, i realized that the canucks hadn't won against the avalanche in 7 games, so i underestimated them.
lots of scoring. bernier gets two goals, daniel and hordichuck each get one. assists all around. interesting game though. listening to team1040, i heard them saying that there were no momentous highlights, and how it seemed so crazy how there were still 8 goals in regulation. oh well.
game was resolved in the shootout. schneider ended up not making a single save in the shootout, all 3 colorado players scoring, and demitra's shot saved.
unfortunately, calgary won their game against the rangers, and have taken the lead from vancouver in the division.
1st - calgary - 3rd in conference
2nd - vancouver - 4th in conference (could be 5th, yahoo! is a little slow at updating things, and anaheim won their game)
3rd - minnesota - 6th in conference

next game: tuesday december 9th @ nashville predators, 5:00 pm.
i don't think i'll make predictions. instead, i'll hope that the canucks win.
rumours say that luie could come back for this game, but i doubt it.

first post: canucks break losing streak!!!!

canucks played a beautiful game tonight!!!
whipped minnesota wild 3-2. ruled the first period score-wise, shots-wise, and faceoff-wise. second period was more of a draw. third was fun. schneider was amazing in net.
great game. puts canucks back at the top of the northwest, despite calgary's overtime win against the blues.
1st - canucks - 32 points - 3rd in conference
2nd- wild - 31 points - 4th in conference
3rd - flames - 31 points - 5th in conference
tonight was the attack of the northwest, with all 5 teams playing. more fun on its way in this division in the next while. stay tuned!!

next game: sunday december 7th at colorado, 5:00pm pacific time.
i predict an easy win against the worst (not entirely certain, oilers game still on) team in the division:)
